FleetOps 0.1.0 is out. It is one Rust binary with the web UI and a SQLite database inside. Point it at a Docker or Podman socket and your team manages containers, images, volumes, networks and Compose projects from the browser.
docker run -d --name fleetops -p 9000:9000 \
-v fleetops-data:/data \
-v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock \
--group-add "$(stat -c %g /var/run/docker.sock)" \
fleets/fleetops
Then open http://localhost:9000 and create the first admin.
What is in it
Docker. Containers can be created, edited by recreating them, duplicated, started, stopped and removed. A recreate that fails to start rolls back to the old container. Images pull and build with streamed progress. Volumes, networks and Compose projects have their own pages, and Compose projects start, stop, restart and go down as one.
Live lists. Lists and detail pages follow Docker’s own event stream over one websocket per tab. Nothing polls. When the connection drops, the page says so and how old its data is.
Logs and a terminal. The log viewer keeps the newest 200,000 lines, searches by text or regex, keeps ANSI colour and resumes after a reconnect without repeating lines. The terminal resizes, detects the shell and never silently starts a new one after a dropped connection.
Remote hosts. A host runs fleetops-agent, which dials out to the server. The host opens no port. Logs, terminals, stats and builds work there as they do locally.
Kubernetes. Add a cluster by kubeconfig or with an in-cluster agent. Lists follow watch streams. Every YAML edit is a dry run shown as a diff before anything is written. Helm releases can be read, rolled back and uninstalled, with the same review step.
Roles and audit. Viewer, operator and admin roles are granted per environment, and on Kubernetes a role can be limited to some namespaces. Every change, every terminal session and every refused request is in the audit log. All of this is in the free Community edition.
What it is not yet
This is a 0.x release, so expect breaking changes between minor versions. Docker Swarm is not supported. Installing Helm charts, Compose stacks from Git and single sign-on are on the roadmap.
Bugs and ideas go to GitHub issues.
